One of the biggest football pieces of news of the year and maybe of all time is Messi’s decision to leave Barcelona and join another club. This news has the world of football speculating where is Messi going to take his talent next.
Many clubs are already contenders to sign Messi. let’s look at some of the teams Messi could potentially join.
PSG and Messi
The French giant has great odds of having Messi on their squad. A great long-term project; A talented squad that has Mbappé and his friend Neymar in it. Messi could be the player they need if they want to win the Champions League.
Another important factor to consider is that they can handle Messi’s wages and even offer him more money down the line once things go back to normal in the European economy.
Manchester City
In a similar case to that of PSG, money would not be a problem for Manchester City and have an interesting squad that has a long-term projection, and it’s managed by a former coach of whom he saw a lot of success back in the day in Barcelona, Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City plays a Cruyff-esque type of game, similar to that of the best eras in Barcelona, but the only problem would be where he would fit in the squad and the changed that would come to the starting 11.
Juventus Messi Interest
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo playing on the same team! That would be one of the greatest things to ever see, this move could be like playing a Football game come to life. Juventus are very competitive and Messi could easily fit on their squad.
Messi’s wages could be a problem, but Juventus have to be in the top 5 of favorites teams to sign Messi.
Inter Milan
The team managed by Antonio Conte had a great season, second in Serie A, and got into the finals of the Europa League. Inter is an interesting project that looks to challenge Juventus’ dominance of Italian football.
Wages are not a problem but the playing style of Inter could not fit Messi because they are a more defensive team of what Messi has been used to his whole career.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid signing the great player of Barcelona’s history would be the biggest f**k you to their all-time rivals Barcelona. If Figo joining Real Madrid from Barcelona generated controversy, this would be 100% worse. Florentino Perez has to be considering this power move and bring Real Madrid back to European dominance.
Unfortunately for all Madridistas out there, this move is very unlikely. Real Madrid is not expecting to make any big signings this season because of the current state of the world economy thanks to COVID, but also it doesn’t fit Madrid’s current philosophy of signing young players with the potential to be world-class stars in the future.
