Premier League Table Predictions for the 2021/22 Season
The 2021–22 Premier League season will be the 30th in the league’s rich history. The top flight of English football’s return is right around the corner. Alas, the staff at Thread Head thought it would be fun to predict the table for next year’s season. As avid football fans, expect these traditions to carry over for years to come.
Now, let the predictions begin. However, we’ll start with a disclaimer:
Transfers are still happening across the globe as we speak. Some of the writers chose to predict the table with the teams in their current form. While others made room for the rumored transfer of Harry Kane and his potential move to Manchester City.
Premier League Table Predictions
As fans of the sport can see, there has been a ton of movement around the league. From top to bottom, several teams have changed managers, as well as players.
While Manchester City is the league’s defending champions, let’s take a look at why each writer laid out the table in their way. Plus, an explanation for why they believe their chosen winner will win the entire league.
Prediction Explanations
Alex
“Depending on transfers, I think Manchester City will retain their title once again. If Kane should indeed move to the Citizens, I can’t see a scenario in which the team struggle for points, they’re defensively sound and have an incredibly creative midfield with De Bruyne, Sterling, and Gundogan. Chelsea will be hot on their heels however with the addition of Lukaku to bolster Tuchel’s options. “
Steve
“Man City, in my opinion, go into the new season the clear favourites to retain the Premier League, which would remarkably make it their sixth league success in the last decade. The signing of Jack Grealish for a British transfer record adds to an already stacked line-up, which could also see the arrival of Harry Kane in the near future.
Add to this a defence featuring last year’s Premier League Player of the Season winner Ruben Dias, and a born winner in Pep Guardiola, and I think it will be very tricky for other clubs to compete with the blue half of Manchester this season.”
Rory
“i’m going with Chelsea to win the Premier League this year. Tuchel’s side proved a number of times last year that they have all of the tools to dethrone Man City. In my opinion, he’s the next great manager of the league, and it showed during the Champions League final last year.
The team has young talent and the addition of Lukaku makes them a very scary team, as they won’t have to heavily rely on Timo Werner to net a heap of goals. Defensively they’re solid, and they have a good mix of veteran players, as well as young players who want to take the next step into stardom.”
