Will Kanye West’s “DONDA” Album Ever Drop?
The release date for “DONDA” has changed more times than Kanye West himself. Going through several different phases in his music career, each of his projects has taken fans to a place their ears have never heard. However, the stalling of Kanye’s latest album has fans wondering if the project will ever release.
The Eternal Rescheduling of DONDA
Fans of Kanye West were excited once Justin Laboy told fans of ‘Ye that the project would drop on July 23rd. Anxiously watching until the clock struck midnight, awaiting project listeners were left feeling frustrated, empty, and downright angry.
Since then, DONDA has had multiple release dates attached to the album. It was then rescheduled to release on August 6th, and once again.. no project.
Now, speculation leads Yeezus supporters to think that Kanye is waiting for Drake to drop “Certified Lover Boy” so that he can release DONDA on the same day. Head-to-head album releases don’t hit the same in the streaming era, but we’ll save that argument another day.
After dealing with numerous unfulfilled release dates, fans have to wonder if Kanye is giving us Dr. Dre’s detox treatment. However, we’ve already heard more of DONDA due to snippets and commercials than we’ve ever heard for Dre’s doubtful project.
Hopeful Release Date
So where does that leave fans now? The succeeding “Donda” event is at Soldier Field stadium in Chicago on Thursday, August 26. However, after two release duds, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up when receiving the album.
Kanye’s manager, Abou “Bu” Thiam, said that the project would be “100%” released on August 26th on social media.

However, fans are still calling “cap” on all future release dates until the project is available on all major DSPs. Honestly, we can’t blame them.
After all, we’ve been waiting too.
