Sublime MMA Astrology for UFC on ESPN 15

Leo Season gives way into Virgo Season
Last week marked the last fight card of 2020 that occurred in Leo, as the Sun will have transitioned into Virgo this beautiful Saturday. This means we are moving from a firey, confident, and power-filled vibe of sublime Leo, to the earthy, tactile, and take no prisoner’s energy of Virgo Season. Virgo is when we see a lot of people get their metaphorical shit together, and as well as potentially some upsets as that hard-working and mud trudging energy of Virgo finally comes to fruition.
Mars is still in Aries but our Moon will be in Libra and the astrological ease and shift of perspective can be attributed to this, on top of that we have a lot of fighters with Libra placements that will be conjunct with said Moon taping into any emotional blockages they may be experiencing. As we all know the fight game isn’t just about the physicality but the mentality and perhaps this added ability to grapple with and address that emotional side of their lives will have more control and peace of mind giving them an edge in the octagon. Let’s take a look at how MMA Astrology will affect each fighter on the main card of UFC on ESPN 15.
Transcendental Performances Or Predictably Unpredictable Upsets?
Frankie Edgar
A man after my own heart, a fellow Libra, Frankie is the current underdog, and listen, I get it, I’m worried for our man. He’s coming off of two losses, the last one to Korean Zombie by TKO a little less than a year ago, but the Transiting Moon will be conjunct his Natal Sun, making him feel comfortable, at ease, and boosting his physical vitality and creative potential. Not to mention his Natal Mercury is sextile his Natal Mars, meaning an overarching aspect of his personality includes an aggressive attitude and finding answers to his opponent. I don’t think it will be pretty, I think Frankie has a lot of big shots he’s going to have to look out for, but he’s got a big boost from the stars this Saturday.
Pedro Munhoz
Munhoz has a strong earthy chart, we are talking Virgo Sun, Mercury, and Capricorn Mars. That is a lot of earth signs and in very prominent areas of a chart especially in regards to his worth ethic, and how he directs his energy. Now while we are entering into Virgo it still isn’t anywhere near conjunct his Natal Sun placement, meaning he’s not getting any extra energy from that. The Transiting Sun will however be sesquiquadrate his Natal Mars, improving his energy levels, and potentially hinting at some immediate success in his future.
My Pick: I’m going with the underdog here, and picking Frankie Edgar. I think he looked great at weigh-ins, I think the stars are giving him a little extra celestial push, and if he can avoid Munhoz’s guillotine he has a chance, and Libra to Libra I gotta support the balance and harmony family.
Ovince Saint Preux VS Alonzo Menifield = SCRAPPED
My (Would have) Pick: I’m going with Menifield for this fight as well. Again, as a fellow Libra I must always support the team, but more than that he has the stars giving him the astrological equivalent of a thumbs up and wink on fight night.
Marcin Prachnio
In Prachino we have a double Cancer placement in his Natal Sun and Moon, which actually gives way to a strong and well-expressed individual who has a firm sense of their individuality and identity. His Natal Mars also happens to reside in Aries which is where our Transiting Mars is going through, and during this transit, he is apt to be more introspective, potentially tire easily and be sensitive to the energies of those around him. Fighting in the empty Apex Arena may actually prove more beneficial for Prachnio without all the energy of the crowd to distract and overwhelm him.
Mike RodrÃguez
What is astrologically interesting about this matchup is both parties being born nearby time-wise to one another, specifically that they both have their Natal Mars in Aries, so both will experience the same introspective, tiring energy that the current transit brings. However, RodrÃguez’s chart is otherwise the exact opposite, filled instead with fire signs as compared to Prachnio’s water-heavy chart. It doesn’t necessarily inherently give him an advantage as one might assume (with fire signs being more often associated with aggression and dominance,) but rather a disadvantage instead due to our exit from Leo’s influence and entrance to not just an earthy astrological forecast but an airy one. RodrÃguez will have the Transiting Sun square his Natal Jupiter in Capricorn, increasing his outlook positively, and hints at making plans for the future. Could this be referring to his future with the UFC and potential matchups?
My Pick: Honestly these two are pretty evenly matched astrologically, and I’m going to go with my gut feeling here and that lives with Prachnio. He’s coming off of two losses and I think his personal transformation that he’ll be going through is related to a win and a positive direction for himself and his career. Well, that or could be a personal transformation regarding leaving the UFC as the roster is getting more and more cutthroat, but I like to be optimistic in these times.
Mariya Agapova
Mariya is going to be in her element tonight, as not only is her Sun in Aries but her Natal Mars is in Virgo, getting a little boost from the Transiting Sun moving into Virgo. The Transiting Sun will also be sextile her Natal Chiron, so we’re going to see a lot of energy flowing towards personal transformation (it feels like a theme on this card!) And working through deep-seated issues.
Often when we see a fighter settle down their life outside of the octagon and get in the right mental space they become even more confident and dealt inside the octagon, and if this already precise and lethal submission artist can become even more focused and determined? There’s no telling the wake of destruction she will leave through the division.
Shana Dobson
Another Aries, we are faced with a battle of fire signs. Unfortunately for Dobson, we see a lot of an inability to learn from past mistakes and grow. She’s coming off of a KO loss to Cachoeira in early February, and again we have to think about how desperate she is for a win considering how tight the roster is getting for UFC. The Transiting Sun being square her Natal Jupiter will give her a boost of optimism and with the Transiting Aries Mars being semi-square her Natal Mars in Gemini the opposing elements of fire and air will give her some ego-assertion and needing to direct her energy outward. I think the planets are doing their best to keep her optimism alive, but will it be enough to survive and get past Agapova?
My Pick: I’m going with Agapova this time. It’s not that controversial of a pick, but this is a rough matchup for Dodson, I think astrologically she might have a chance at survival but that would be if everything lined up for her perfectly. She’s going to be up against someone with similar astrology and more experience and a lot of submission finishes that put her at a serious disadvantage.
To be fair we all thought Maia wasn’t gonna take out Calderwood and yet here we are- the main difference there was that the stars were highly in favor of Maia, whereas they are just about even for these two.
Technical Prowess Increases as Impulsiveness is Calmed
To be completely honest this movement into Virgo season is exactly what I think we need as MMA fans. With the fast pace and amount of not only big fights but the announcements, contracts, USADA suspensions, and more we are a bit burnt out. Leo season is a season of fire and brimstone did not disappoint regarding the charred state it left our hearts. Looking into the future transits I think we’re going to see a lot of sleeper cards, a lot of technical ability shine from our fighters, and honestly just a more calmed, and thought-out approach from our fighters both in and outside of the octagon.
That being said I will once again be putting my money on all my predictions because you gotta walk the walk if you wanna talk the talk! I will likely run out of bad jokes to make about it in the next couple of weeks though. To a safe and great night of MMA.
