MMA Astrology: Volatile and Capricious Behavior Increases in Libra Season
Libra Has Arrived
Welcome to our beautiful airy Libra season! A time for balance and elegance, but in this search and attempt to find balance decision-making can become difficult. On top of that we are still dealing with the Mars retrograde in Aries, as mentioned last week this can increase aggression, energy output, and paired with our transition into Libra we are becoming more aware of how these actions affect those around us. We honestly have quite a bit of interested and conflicting or opposing astrology this week- leave it to Libra season to force us to find a balance between our own opposing feelings and internal desires.
Last week I won’t lie- we were off in our picks! But what can I say, my little air-filled heart could not help but see the hope in Woodley, and we were as close as we could come to picking a draw for Cowboy and Price. That’s why I always say these are for fun, and to always consider your own opinions and leanings when it comes to placing bets. This week I will be focusing only on two matchups, however- the intensity between Adesanya and Costa, and the seemingly balanced match-up between Reyes and Blachowicz.
Earth and Water Signs Collide
Adesanya is a Cancer Sun, and oftentimes water signs can struggle a bit during air heavy seasons as their need for emotional reassurance or stability is not entertained by the more fluid and spontaneous energy of air signs. However, this duality is also a strength for them- allowing for information to come easily to them, being able to communicate more effectively, and be more dexterous in all things they do as they are seemingly weightless and not weighed down by their own emotional hang-ups. Notably, the transiting Mars in Aries has sextile with his natal Jupiter, filling him positivity, confidence, and enthusiasm for upcoming projects, so long as he follows Libra’s dichotomy of balance he should see long term results in what he engages in- and as many of us are predicting, if he can make it to the round with Costa, Costa will be in trouble.
Most importantly however with this aspect is that Adesanya is seeing a higher purpose other than ego gratification with his work, clarity of purpose, a lucid vision of destiny, a divine decree of symbolization, and meaning has filled him and is pushing him towards victory. Will it be enough, however, or will he let his emotions get the better of him and lose sight of this sacred representation before him?
The complete opposite of Adesanya, Costa is a Taurus, represented by the bull and that is evident in both his personality and fighting style. Interestingly his Mars in Cancer, however, is not at all at home with the current transit in Aries, which as mentioned before is further intensified by its retrograde. Likely to tire more easily, and feel not at home in this world this transit is a difficult one for him. Making the wrong impression at times and lost in his own mystical depths and subtle emotions, he is out of touch with the surface of reality. This could prove to work to his advantage however and keep him from running his gas tank out in the first two rounds. While his Mars may suffer at this time his Taurus sun flourishes, Libra and Taurus are both ruled by Venus and often complement each other very well, a time of reassessment of renewal, the fruits of the last six months have been gathered as he prepares to move onto the next phase.
His moon in Cancer however my sabotage this as the transiting Mars in Aries comes square with his watery moon making him volatile, and action is more comfortable than taking any sort of “wait and see” game plan. The transiting Mars also becomes conjunct with his natal Sun giving him a dangerous level of energy and assertion- making his already stubborn will even stronger but with the caveat of impatience, getting things done in a hurry, and tension. The potential for this storm to result in some kind of accident or bad decision simply due to overconfidence is high, which is where it becomes dangerous for him as that is where Adesanya will take advantage and with a swiftness that Costa will not have time to react.
My Pick: Honestly, this matchup is so interestingly astrologically because it pits the opposites of each planetary body and aspect against each other, and during a time (Libra) where the winds can shift either direction. Personally, I lean toward the current champ, His Chiron is effected in his aspects as well as the calling to a higher purpose and I am truly a sucker for the meaning behind what you do. He is fighting for something more than himself- and that can be incredibly powerful and tide-turning even in the worst of situations when it seems all hope is lost. So I believe that the stars have favored Adesanya, though it truly could go either way.
Reyes vs Blachowicz
Another interesting astrological lineup awaits us with Reyes, who’s a sun in Capricorn gives an ambitious and impossible to knock down will to move forward and survive and improve are a formidable force. The transiting Sun in Libra has a large effect on him, career advancements become possible as opportunities for greater responsibility commitment appear and it becomes a good time to take stock of life’s direction. The transiting Sun however also lines up to be square his own natal Sun creating friction. Ideas he has hatched in the past couple of months come to bear fruit but may work out in ways he isn’t quite expecting. It is a good time to remember that nothing worth waiting for comes easily- and this may reflect in the outcome of tonight’s fight. The transiting Libra sun also becomes sextile with his natal Mars in Sagittarius heightening his energy levels, and increasing his passion to achieve what he has set out to do. This can imply some progress towards his immediate goals- and we all know exactly what Reyes has set his eyes on.
Unexpectedly Jan’s sun is in Pisces, and honestly, a good portion of his chart lives in the emotionally charged waters of Pisces and Cancer, which during an astrological storm of air and fire transits may play out quite interestingly for him. Generally, Libra season is a time for significant change for Pisces, rewards are reaped from interpersonal relationships and those deep unwavering waters they live in can become the basis of far-reaching transformation in life.
However airy Libra season can also see Pisces acting more compulsively, and with the transiting sun moving into an inconjunct position with his natal sun this can cause a bit of a crisis of self. He has the resources to deal with these challenges however and as long as he does not get lost in the endless universe that often Pisces escapes to in their mind they will be his best, to show who he really is, will lead him into a new level of understanding and change.
My Pick: Yet again we have another face-off of earth and water, and once again it could truly go either way. I tend to lean towards Reyes, as his chart supports the balancing act that Libra season requires us all to engage in and find the value of. But Reyes will not come to this win easily.
Balance is Key in Libra Season
The transits we will all be experiencing today and for the rest of the year are intense. Venus becomes sesquiquadrate with Chiron and we may have to grapple with issues of power, authority, insecurity, and even jealousy. The transiting moon will also be leaving Capricorn and reconcile our need for detachment and intellectual stimulation as it enters Aquarius, Libra’s airy sister. The moon in Capricorn forced us to look reality in the eye and Aquarius will allow us to now take a step back and unearth a bit of that deeper meaning of what we discovered. Not to mention we are still feeling the effects of Mars retrograde in Aries until about November, and if we are not careful we will lean away from healthy productive outlets for our excess energy and emotion and into sneaky and disingenuous ways to get what we want. These actions can have unintended long-term effects, which will have to be dealt with eventually.
As always I will place my bets on my predictions- because it’s rather unfair of me to tell you all of this and not follow my own advice! We are surely in for a night bangers and great fights, and honestly, both of these are very much so fights that can swing in either direction and may swing in both directions simultaneously and the fighter able to maintain a clearer head and balance will come out victorious. Libra season is a dangerous time for many fights as upsets and unexpected results are more likely to happen. We have left the comfort and consistency of our earthy Virgo and entered into the unpredictable but buoyant and lively energy of Libra. All things become possible here, but with the same duality Libra lives by, a loss may not seem as intense as before, easing the blow to the ego.
